Chess is a strategic board game played between two opponents on an 8×8 grid. Each player starts with 16 pieces: pawns, rooks, knights, bishops, a queen, and a king. The goal is to checkmate your opponent’s king, meaning it is trapped and cannot escape.

Basic Rules:

1. 1. Setting Up the Board – Each player arranges their pieces in a specific order, with pawns in the front row and stronger pieces behind.
   2. Piece Movement – Each type of piece moves differently:
      • Pawns move forward but capture diagonally.
      • Rooks move in straight lines (horizontal or vertical).
      • Knights move in an “L” shape and can jump over other pieces.
      • Bishops move diagonally.
      • Queens move in any direction.
      • Kings move one square in any direction but must avoid check.
   3. Special Moves – Chess has unique rules like castling, en passant, and pawn promotion.
